Some holidays only properly begin once everyone is out of the car — including the one on four legs. Borough Farm sits in 18 acres of West Devon farmland between Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley, and dogs have always been part of life here. Where you can stay with your dog

Several of our spaces welcome dogs — just tell us when you book. The Yard, our ground-floor barn studio, is a favourite with what we like to call pup-parents: it opens onto the old courtyard, with outdoor seating and a BBQ right outside the door. Great Links, our luxury yurt, sits in its own secluded paddock — space to potter, sniff and doze in the grass while you watch the light change over Brentor.

The walking is the point

From the farm gate you're ten minutes from Brentor and its famous church on the tor, and a short drive from Lydford Gorge, the open moor and the North Devon and Cornwall coast. We've rounded up our favourite routes in 6 must-do hikes near Borough Farm — most of them are wonderful with a dog, though keep leads handy for livestock and check National Trust rules at Lydford.

Good to know

We're a working farm, with sheep, ponies and chickens going about their day — so we ask that dogs stay on leads around the animals and the yard. After a big, muddy day out there's outdoor space to dry off and regroup before you're back in front of the fire pit.
