From the orchard: juice, cordial and jam

Elderflower in June, apples in autumn, eggs all year — how the farm feeds its guests.

Much of what you'll eat and drink at Borough Farm started life within sight of your bed.

The farm year

In June we pick elderflower and make cordial. Autumn brings blackberry-and-apple jam and juice pressed from our own orchard apples — each arriving guest gets a bottle. The rare-breed hens provide the breakfast eggs, and the fruit, vegetable and herb gardens are there for guests to raid, gently.

Good neighbours

What we don't grow, we buy close: meat from Warrens, the award-winning butcher in Launceston; sourdough from Tom at Coombeshead; bread and milk from Strawberry Fields; Devon tea and locally farmed honey. Granny Martin, our neighbour, grows the late-summer tomatoes.

Eat outside

Breakfast in the meadow, cream tea against a warm stone wall, supper cooked over the fire pit — the farm's tables are outdoors when Devon allows. Ask Julia what's in season when you book.
