You don't need to drive to walk well here — field paths, quiet lanes and Dartmoor's western edge, straight from the yard.
The best walks at Borough Farm start where the tarmac ends: through the gate, along the long lay meadows, and up to where Dartmoor lifts the horizon. From Great Links' paddock you can see Brentor — the tiny church on its volcanic outcrop is one of the great short walks of the moor's western edge.
Eighteen acres of woodland and pasture are yours to wander. The meadows are cut late and never sprayed, so summer walking here means orchids, butterflies and the long grass moving — walk the mown paths and close gates behind you.
Western Dartmoor is the quieter side of the national park. Julia keeps walking guides and OS maps for guests — including routes she actually walks — and will mark up a loop to fit your legs, the weather and whether a dog is coming.
Weather on the moor changes fast even in summer. Take layers and water, keep dogs on leads near livestock, and follow the moorland access guidance. Then come home to the fire.
