A Romantic Escape on Dartmoor's Edge
The best romantic breaks aren't really about grand gestures. They're about time — unhurried mornings, long baths, a sky full of stars and no reason to look at a phone. That's the shape of a couple's stay at Borough Farm, on the quiet western edge of Dartmoor.
Choose your space
The Granary is the classic: an antique French double bed beneath a glass apex, so you can watch the stars from under the covers, with Neal's Yard toiletries, fresh flowers and a double-ended roll-top bath. The Shippon is calmer and more contemporary — a king-sized bed, a picture window onto the courtyard, an antique roll-top bath, and a private outdoor sitting area with a fire pit for slow evenings. And Great Links, our yurt, is for couples who want the wild version: a super-king bed under canvas, a private wood-fired hot tub, and sunrise over Brentor from your own paddock.
Evenings that stretch out
Book a session in the panoramic barrel sauna, soak in a log-fired hot tub, then let the evening do its thing — this is genuinely dark-sky country, and on a clear night the stars are absurd. Once a week the log-fired pizza oven comes out in the courtyard, which is about as much organising as a stay here requires.
Days, if you want them
Wild swimming, the tors of Dartmoor, Lydford Gorge, the North Cornwall coast — all close enough for a lazy start. We share our favourite spots in a digital welcome guide when you book, including where to eat nearby (see also our local food guide).
See all our spaces or check availability — midweek stays are the quietest, if you can steal the time.
